3rd  INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF BENGAL STUDIES                                           19th – 22nd November, 2013  University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India   Important Notice   Last date for receipt of abstracts has been extended up to 31st January, 2013. Other deadlines remain as notified earlier.   Modified detail about registration fee:    Participants must register by 30th July, 2013, by paying INR 3000/- (INR 1500/- for students). Registration will cover right to attend all sessions, conference Kit, Abstract Book and  working lunch. Participants who intend to become member of the International Society of Bengal Studies may add Rs. 2000/- (Rs. 1000/- for students) with the registration fee as two-years membership of the International Society of Bengal Studies, which also covers the cost of four issues of Bangabidya: the International Journal of Bengal Studies.   The organizers may arrange for a few scholarships for students covering the travel and registration costs. Call for Paper

CALL FOR PAPER 3rd  INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF BENGAL STUDIES 19th – 22nd November, 2013  University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India Papers are invited for the 3rd International Congress of Bengal Studies scheduled to be held during 19th – 22nd November, 2013. The 3rd Congress will be hosted by the University of Calcutta, India. Papers on all the areas of Bengal Studies, including, but not limited to, Literature and Criticism, Comparative Literature, Linguistics, Folklore, Cultural Studies, Media Studies, History, Economics, Sociology, Fine Arts, Philosophy, Anthropology, Archaeology, Museulogy are invited. Papers should be either in Bengali or in English. Last date for submission of paper proposal/abstract (800-1000 words) is 31st December, 2012. Abstracts will be received only through email to icbs2013@gmail.com. An abstract is expected to give a outline of the primary material of study/survey; approach/methodology adopted; survey of works done by other scholars so far in the concerned area; and, finally, how the proposed paper adds to the existing knowledge. Abstract in Bengali must be sent as a PDF document. Participants will be informed in March, 2013, about the decision of abstract review. Participants must register by 30th July, 2013, by paying INR 5000/- (INR 1500/- for students). Registration Fee for Life members would be INR 3000/-. Registration will cover right to attend all sessions, conference Kit, Abstract Book,  working lunch, two-year membership of the International Society of Bengal Studies covering subscription of the Journal of Bengal Studies. Participants are expected to make arrangement for their travel and accommodation. Mode of payment etc will be communicated to confirmed participants. The organizers may arrange for a few scholarships for students covering the travel and registration costs.
